Thanks for being part of our journey.

Meticulous was born out of the pledges of ~4,000 Kickstarter and Indiegogo Backers. Thank you for supporting our project. When you funded the project we weren’t certain if the technical innovations we pioneered would work. It took us longer than we expected to get to this point. As of September 2025, we finalized the product and began building the first 1,000 machines. We also passed all global safety certification standards. We are building up our manufacturing capacity and quality control processes. It will still take time to build and deliver everyone’s machine, but we are in a phase of the company.

This section will address the most common questions we get from Crowdfunding Backers. It’s hard to answer every individual question that you send, although we’re doing out best!

If your question is not addressed here, please email us at hello@meticuloushome.com

I wrote a message to Kickstarter or Indiegogo and haven’t heard back from you. Why not?

We were doing a poor job communicating outside of our monthly Backer emails as the entire team was focused on getting the machine through certification and to mass production. Starting in August, we implemented a centralized communication platform to track all inbound communication across email and Instagram. This allows us to better track our response time and the accuracy of responses. We aspire to be as responsive as possible and have made big strides in our responsiveness, but we can still do better. This FAQ is meant to help address the most common questions from Backers.

When will my machine ship?

We know that many of you backed the project over 2 years ago and we anticipated being where we are today, a year ago. We weren’t willing to compromise on reliability, and when reliability testing showed that some components failed after a few thousand espressos, we re-sourced those components until we got a machine that could reliably brew over 10,000 back-to-back espressos without issue. Those extra design cycles added a year to the process that we hadn’t anticipated. Thank you to the many Backers that encouraged us to ‘get it right’.

We began building and shipping the certified, mass production espresso machines to Backers in Mid-September. This was the start of our first 1,000 unit manufacturing batch and we don’t yet know how long it will take to build them all. As we gain experience, we expect to be able to build and test more machines every week, with a goal of 250 units per week. As of November, we are averaging between 50 and 100 units per week, and perform thorough testing before sending them to Backers.

We know how impatient many of you are to get your machines, and we’re doing everything we can to deliver them as quickly as possible. With 4,000 backers, the best case scenario is that we will deliver all machines by Q2 2026, although later backers could receive their machines in Q3 or Q4. Much will depend on the manufacturing capacity from our manufacturing partner, and the throughput we can maintain without risking quality.

When I login to the Meticulous website I don’t see my Pledged order - what’s wrong?

If you login to the Meticulous website you will not yet see a historical pledge from Kickstarter or Indiegogo. The Pledge system from Kickstarter and Indiegogo is a separate system from the one we have transitioned to manage shipping and new orders. We are working on a way to import all historical pledges into this new platform so that you can see it. We have a record of all pledges and are working our way through them!

What if I want to change my shipping address?

If you are still within the same country, there’s no need to update your shipping address. Before your machine ships, you’ll receive an email from us to enter your address and pay for shipping, import duties and sales tax / VAT. If you have changed country, feel free to email us at hello@meticuloushome.com and we will update your Shipping country.

When will you begin shipping the White Meticulous Espresso?

Our goal is to first get production of the Espresso in Black to full capacity. At that point, we will source samples for White and offer them to Beta Testers. Based on the feedback it may require 1 or 2 more sourcing and testing cycles. We hope for White to be in mass production 3-4 months after Black with testing in Q1 and production by Q2 2026.

When will you start shipping Meticulous Milk?

Our goal is to focus on Meticulous Espresso and get it to full production capacity. At that point, we will begin shifting our focus to bringing the Milk Prototype to a full production ready design. We’ve learned so much going through the process with Espresso, that we anticipate being more efficient with Milk. We plan to ship to testers by end of Q2 and to mass production by end of 2026.

When will my accessories ship?

Accessories will not ship with early Meticulous Espresso shipments. They will ship separately once we have brought Espresso to full production.

Why are you accepting new orders from customers when all Backers haven’t received their machine yet?

There is nothing that we want more than to be able to immediately deliver all units to Backers - but we wouldn’t be able to without new sales. New sales are necessary to secure increased manufacturing capacity from our partners and to get access to financing for components (to avoid unnecessary downtime).

Can I switch from White to Black to get my machine sooner?

Regardless of the color you chose, you will receive an email to take delivery of Meticulous Black when your Backer number is up! If you would like Black, complete the delivery. If you prefer waiting for White, then you can ignore the emails until you are offered a White machine.

Are refunds being processed?

Crowdfunding pledges are what creators like us use to bring a risky and uncertain product to life. As a rule, they are non-refundable because it would otherwise be impossible for creators to use the funds to develop the product. We issued refunds until we had our final production design and had made large financial commitments for certification and mass production based on the volumes we had. Issuing refunds to even a small number of Backers beyond that point could put delivery at risk for the thousands of other Backers. Our goal is to get through the most capital intensive production ramping phase, begin new sales, and then begin issuing refunds for those that had requested them early on. For those that had requested refunds before the policy was announced, we offered the alternative option of taking delivery of Meticulous earlier, and many Backers have taken us up on that offer.
