February 2026
Hello everyone! Before we start I want to thank everyone who has gotten their machine so far, we’ve gotten great feedback and a lot of help. The community that is building around Meticulous is amazing, thanks to everyone who is making that possible!
Now for the update, there is a lot to share this time around!
MP1 Wrap-Up
We delivered over 800 MP1 units before Chinese New Year! That’s a huge milestone for the team. This first batch took longer than we expected, but it set the foundation for processes that we believe scale. We anticipate being able to manufacture 200-250 units a week assuming we have enough components that meet our requirements.
200 units require small to moderate reworks. Factories are back from CNY and we're starting on those this week.
One of the areas we've identified for improvement in our first mass production run was meeting our strict cosmetic requirements. We're taking several steps to address this:
- Expanding our powder coat supply chain with multiple suppliers for resilience and speed.
- Moved to a new dedicated space that makes handling machines and assembly easier and less prone to cosmetic defects.
- Hiring a dedicated finishes expert. If anyone in the community has deep experience with finishes and powder coating in particular, please reach out to me at careers@meticuloushome.com we'd love to hear from you.
Reliability in the Field
We continue to collect data on reliability from machines in the wild, and so far this has been a huge success. Very few issues, and every one we find helps us prevent the same thing in upcoming batches.
The issues people have had:
- A small number of machines delivered with a ‘cracked LCD’. These left the factory perfect and there was no damage to the packaging. We discovered that under certain conditions, the packaging could transfer some stress through the box to the LCD. We’ve reinforced the packaging to prevent this.
- Some customers choked their motor and burned them out. We had tested 10,000 normal shots and set limits to extreme pressures. We hadn’t put in place a safety for ‘reasonable pressures’ for ‘unreasonable time’. A 9+ bar shot for 2-3 minutes with no liquid getting through pushes the motor outside its work limit. Those customers received replacement motors and all successfully replaced it. We’ve since introduced a software guard, but if you find yourself choking the machine - Double-press the Dial to abort the shot.
- A small number of customers damaged the surface coating by boiling a vinegar solution - there is no need to do that. Using a toothbrush on the inside of the brew cylinder is sufficient. See our Maintenance and Repair guide.
On the software side:
- We are transitioning to a new sound driver, so some machines have sound disabled for now.
- We discovered an issue with certain ‘no’ or ‘low’ flow profiles that could cause the piston to freeze (e.g., Soup, PSPH) before starting the shot. We believe we’ve solved it and are testing the update.
- We recommend restarting the machine every few days as some hard to find issues only show themselves after a few days of the machine being on.
- We continue to make improvements to reliability and usability.
Huge thanks to our backers for helping us diagnose and sort through issues with patience and willingness to help! It’s normal to encounter issues for the first time once production ramps up and everyone who has encountered issues has been invaluably helpful!
MP2 Production (Next 1,000 Units)
We have moved to a new, larger production line. It is ready and parts are flowing:
- We've ordered parts for all 1,000 MP2 units and already have 300 sets on hand.
- Production resumes this week with a small ramp-up as China gets back online. We expect full production speed by next week.
- We're on track to receive the remaining MP2 parts on schedule and complete 1,000 units by March 31.
- The one issue we continue to work through is powder coating on a single part. We are parallel processing a number of options to improve this, at which point we expect to be in a reliable state with our component supplies for future batches. Solving this will also translate to being able to move forward with White testing and production. The implication is that we had planned to ship throughout the build period, and we will be held up on finishing machines until that component arrives.
- We're ordering the next set of 1,000 parts this week to stay on schedule beyond MP2.
- A potential long-term issue is the Memory component shortage due to “AI” demand. In looking to place our second 3,000 part order for the computer chip, we learned that Memory prices have gone up significantly, impacting both cost and supply. We’ll do everything to prevent this from impacting “MP4”, “MP5” and “MP6”.

Backer Portal and Shipping Priorities: Coming Soon
One of our priorities over the past two months has been creating a portal for each Backer to see their order details and an expected manufacturing batch / timeline. It's reasonable to expect this information, and until we had a better sense of our throughput and production schedule, we could not provide reasonable estimates. Now we do, but needed to build a system to communicate it, Kickstarter and BackerKit make managing this information very difficult. This was a bigger effort than it would seem, as it requires importing the BackerKit data, tying it to fulfillment in Shopify, and taking into account our manufacturing capacity and throughput. We've made great progress, the system is almost ready. We'll send a separate email with details.
How We Prioritize Fulfillment
A tremendous amount of thought and planning goes into how we allocate each production run. As units become available, our guiding principle is always the same: how do we get machines into everyone's hands as fast as possible? That means that we are choosing which countries to ship to strategically to optimize for that.
Here's why: Each new country requires dealing with new customs requests and paperwork, these are time-sensitive, as units will be returned if we don't help clear customs within a short number of days. So we must select a small number of countries at a time to give us the bandwidth to resolve these issues with Backers and FedEx. For example, we discovered we are unable to ship to Spain unless we route shipments through France, as Spain has a special requirement for non-consumer-to-consumer coffee machines above EUR 300. By grouping countries strategically and tackling larger markets first, we can fulfill the greatest number of Backers in the shortest amount of time, rather than getting bottlenecked by logistical complexity in smaller markets early on.
This framework is what drives how we allocate machines across MP2, MP3, and beyond within the Backer Portal. We are prioritizing Backers up to ~1500, and customers who had requested refunds before we had completed development and were in certification / manufacturing. As a reminder, based on the Pledge orders, we are fulfilling Kickstarter first followed by Indiegogo. For some countries, we had planned on shipping to early backers in MP1, but due to delays outside of our control (e.g., country-specific certification), we delivered machines to Backers in countries where we already understood the import process. As a result, some later Backers may have received machines ahead of earlier ones, not because they were given preference, but because it allowed us to keep fulfillment moving forward for everyone.

White Machines
We know many of you are waiting on white units. We're a little behind on these , powder coating was one of the most challenging aspects of our first production run. Our acceptance rate is still relatively low, meaning we're rejecting a significant number of powder-coated parts that don't meet our quality standards. Those parts get reworked until they do, but the high reject rate means each batch takes longer than it should.
Once powder coating becomes more reliable, we'll introduce white. Expanding to multiple suppliers should help here as well.
Meticulous Milk
Not much to report here other than we're on track. We set ourselves a list of engineering tasks to clear before restarting work on Milk, and we're working through the bulk of those now. We expect work to restart in the next couple of weeks.
Engineering Progress During CNY
Chinese New Year was a great opportunity for the engineering team to tackle some overdue tasks with everyone together at the office.
Accessories:
- Both the funnel lid and iPad holder designs are finalized and ready for samples. We expect to begin shipping new machines with these included starting in April. If you've already received your machine, you'll get a separate shipment with the accessories.
- We also finalized the design for one of the most requested accessories: the travel case.

Software:
- The team used the downtime to focus on reliability improvements and cleanup across the firmware, iOS app, and Android app. We will post dedicated updates when there are major software releases from now on too.
Join Our Software Team
Some bittersweet news: Johanna, our software lead, has decided to move on and pursue her own projects. She's been working hard to set a robust foundation and solve the most important software tasks before she leaves at the end of March. One of her biggest contributions was championing making the machine open source, something that has shaped the project in a lasting way.
This means we're looking for talented developers to join the team. We'll post a detailed job description soon, but if you have experience with Linux kernel, drivers, embedded systems, and production-ready software, we want to hear from you. Reach out at careers@meticuloushome.com.
The community is already incredibly engaged and willing to contribute, and we're grateful for that. If this sounds like your kind of challenge, or you know someone who'd be a great fit, don't be a stranger.

Every week we'll report on what's happening so you get a much closer look at progress in real time. This means more frequent but shorter updates. Let us know how that works out so we can keep improving.
Live AMA This Friday
We'll be hosting a live AMA session this Monday March 2 at 10am Central time to answer questions directly from the community. Join us on Discord, bring your questions and we'll do our best to cover as much as we can. We know not everyone is on Discord, we will move to another platform for upcoming AMAs.
We're also planning country-specific Zoom AMA sessions so we can go deeper on prioritization and deliveries. A lot of this information varies by country, and these sessions will give us a chance to share more relevant details with each region. More info on scheduling soon.
Thank you for your continued support and feedback.
We're moving fast and feeling great about the momentum heading into spring. More updates soon.
